If you’re looking to create a website for your business, you may be wondering which platform is better: Squarespace or Wix. Both platforms have their pros and cons, and it can be difficult to decide which one is right for you.

Before we get into the details, it’s good to note that from the outset both may look similar, with each offering website building solutions that need minimal technical knowledge, however there are a few key features that tell them apart.

Squarespace or Wix: Which Platform Is Right For You?

Squarespace and Wix are two of the most popular website building platforms in the world. They offer a variety of different plans, as well as templates and designs that you can use to create your own site.

The main differences between Squarespace and Wix are in what they offer and their pricing plans. Both websites come with built-in ecommerce support, but only Wix has an email marketing system. Additionally, Wix offers more options for customization than Squarespace does—but there are also more features available with Squarespace’s premium plan than with Wix’s premium plan.

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, Wix may be the better choice.

You can get started with Wix’s free plan, which includes all the basic features you need to create a website—and it won’t cost you a dime. But if you want to add more features or professional-looking pages, you can upgrade to one of their paid plans that range from $4.50 to $24.50 per month.

Squarespace offers four different pricing plans, ranging from $16 to $49 per month. While this might seem like a good deal, keep in mind that these prices are based on how many pages your site has. So if you’re looking for something more affordable, Wix might be more appropriate.!

Both Squarespace and Wix offer a variety of features to help you create a website for your business. However, Squarespace offers more eCommerce-focused features, such as the ability to sell products and services online. If you’re looking to create an online store, Squarespace may be the better option.  That said, for E-Commerce, we’d always recommend considering a WordPress or Shopify store for this type of functionality. Wix, on the other hand, offers more features for creating a blog or website.

If you want to use an eCommerce platform that’s easy to use and has all the bells and whistles necessary for small businesses and entrepreneurs, then Squarespace is probably the better option(especially if you’re already familiar with their templates). You’ll find some great templates for blogs or websites too—but if you’re just starting out or don’t have much experience with coding, then it might be better for you to go with Wix instead.

Ease of Use

Both Squarespace and Wix are relatively easy to use, even if you’re not familiar with web design. However, Squarespace may be slightly easier to use, as it offers more drag-and-drop features. Wix also has a slightly bigger learning curve, as it offers more customization options.

Squarespace is great for beginners because it has more intuitive tools than Wix. It’s also easier to learn how to add content like text and images onto your site, as well as how to customize the look and feel of your website with options like color schemes and fonts.

Wix has some features that make it better suited for beginners who want to have the option for growth to an advanced user. With Wix, you can easily add custom code snippets into your website without having to know HTML or CSS code yourself; this is helpful if you want to add custom functionality like ecommerce or membership sites that require additional programming from third parties in order for them work properly within your site’s environment (i.e., an ecommerce plugin).

Customer Support

Squarespace and Wix both offer customer support via phone, email, and live chat. However, Squarespace’s customer support is available 24/7, whereas Wix’s customer support is only available during certain hours. So, if you need help outside of normal business hours, Squarespace may be the better option.

Pros & Cons of Wix and Squarespace

Pros of Using Wix

    • Wix is friendly and affordable

    • Wix offers a live editor, so you can view your website as you create it. You can also edit your website from the Wix mobile app.

    • Forget premium hosting; your site is hosted on Wix

    • Wix customer service truly is great; even free plans get support.

Cons of Using Wix

    • The Wix dashboard provides some basic analytics and traffic tracking, but if you really want to get nerdy with data, you’re better off using another platform.

    • A big drawback is a time it takes to load pages. Fast page loads mean a happier customer base, and search engines look at load times when ranking websites.

    • Wix provides templates for your website, but it does not allow you to customize everything. You have to delete the whole site, and then create a new one if you want to change your mind about anything.

Pros of Using Squarespace

    • Squarespace offers many sophisticated, beautiful and highly customizable templates.

    • Squarespace is a great option for blogs. It’s easy to use and looks beautiful.

    • Customer service reps are available to answer your questions through live chat, so you can get an answer almost instantly.

    • For mobile users, there is a Squarespace app for iOS and Android. With this app, you can edit almost all aspects of your website, including pages, blog, and store.

    • Squarespace can theoretically support up to 1,000 pages.

Cons of Using Squarespace

    • You need a really easy website editor. If you’re looking for something that is super easy to use with a simple interface, Squarespace is the way to go.

    • Page speed is very important for you. If your pages take too long to load, then that can hurt your SEO and make it more difficult for people to reach your site.

    • You want to create a multilingual website. Sites built in Squarespace can only be translated into one language at a time, so if you’re thinking about creating multilingual content on your site, then another solution may be better suited for you.

Is Squarespace or Wix Better?

The bottom line is that both Wix and Squarespace are great platforms for building your website. They have similar features and pricing options, but each excels in different areas.

If you’re looking for a simple website where you can add blog posts and products, Squarespace is the best option. Squarespace’s templates are beautiful and highly customizable, so you can create exactly the kind of site you want.

If you need more than just a blog, though, Wix may be a better choice—it offers more functionality than Squarespace in many areas. For example, if you need to create an e-commerce store or manage a lot of pages, Wix has some features that Squarespace does not have.
